BIOS update guide for RAID motherboards.

<Symptoms>

Since the HPT RAID BIOS is included in mainboard BIOS, everytime you update the MB BIOS, RAID BIOS maybe changed to another revision. Sometimes it leads to a RAID configuration corrupted because different RAID BIOS uses different definitions and takes down different records on the hard drives.

<Solutions>

  1. Only update MB BIOS while you do need the new features and bug fixes by new version. If the current system is acceptable, don't risk flashing new MB BIOS please.
  2. Before update MB BIOS, check out the embedded RAID BIOS revision in current and new one please.
  3. Always back up the system and data from RAID to another storage devices, file servers or NAS available at network place please. In case there is something wrong after MB BIOS update, you may restore
    the system and data.
