Hey all. I just flashed a BE6 system to the newest firmware of TH. I now want to install my new CPU of 800MHZ. However, in CPU soft menu I choose 800MHz and save/quit and when I reboot I receive error message:

CPU is unworkable or has been changed. Please recheck CPU softmenu.

I retry over and over and no good. I also try with my freinds 733MHz, same problem. I then reput in my old 550MHZ and its ok This is consistant with 2 different BE6 Motherboards! Anyone know how to fix this? Does the BE6 motherboard really support up to 850MHz??

In bios in CPU SoftMenu set CPU Operating Speed to User Define, Ext. Clock (PCI) to 100MHz(1/3), AGPCLK/CPUCLK to 2/3 and Speed Error Hold to Disable. Don't bother with Multiplier Factor setting

Great!! It worked. The problem was the cpu's external clock was 133Mhz, so I needed to use a PC133 strip of ram and also set the Ext. Clock (PCI) to 133MHz(1/3) now I can see the full 800MHz!

Thanks for you're help Vandergaart!!!

So set it to 133(1/4) not 133(1/3)because You extremely overclock PCI bus with 1/3 setting and it can cause Your HDD to fail in DMA mode etc

Really? What if I use SCSI Adaptec Ultra 160 card and drives? Still set it at 1/4?

Yes - this is PCI clock divider, when it is set to 133/3 PCI clock is set to 44 MHz which is set far above specification (33MHz). It can cause instabilities, loss of data and sometimes can damage Your PCI components (which is rare but it could happen). So set it to 133/4 (=33MHz) if BE6 supports it (I can't exactly remember if it supports it but I believe it is).
