Author Topic: IDE 3 an 4 , how can i use them mdease2275 Junior Member Member # 2108 Rate Member posted August 04, 2001 21:05                   when i first set up my board i put my 2 hdd's on IDE1 and IDE2 as masters and my cd -rom on IDE3, but it's a no go. It doesn't see the cd rom> Do I need to install it as a slave and load my OS and install the raid utility to windows and then go in to the raid bios setup thats what it looks like in the manual but i'm not sure. If thats the case that is about the stupidest thing i've ever heard since it's gonna wipe out your OS after u setup the raid Posts: 2 | From: | Registered: Aug 2001  |  IP: Logged meathead Junior Member Member # 1970 Rate Member posted August 05, 2001 13:54                   what i'd do is keep my hard drives on ide 3 and 4 while keeping cd drives on 1 and 2. i have my hard drive on ide3, my dvd on ide1 and cdrw on ide2 and everything works fine. you can keep your cd-rom on ide3 but your os won't recognize it until you install the drivers for the hpt370 controller.
