Why did the system lock up on Adaptec SCSI BIOS for several minutes, and then continue booting up? (Common issue)

Question:

Why did the system lock up on Adaptec SCSI BIOS for several minutes, and then continue booting up? (Common issue)

Explanation and solution:

If there is a special OEM card, Adaptec 2940UW Dual/NE plugged on ABIT KG7 or other mainboards, the booting-up process will freeze several minutes on Adaptec SCSI BIOS v1.33S2, and then continue going. This phenomenon happens with other vendors' mainboards and we suggest users checking Adaptec tech support if there is a SCSI BIOS update, or disabling the "BIOS support for int13 extensions" in "Advanced configuration options" through SCSI BIOS.
